Richard Horngold Jr., 16, of the US is lucky to be alive after being kidnapped by two other Americans onboard the yacht Caine near Antillia. Under cover of a squall at sea, Horngold managed to jump off the boat and escape his captors. He swam alone throughout the night of July 8/9 to come ashore at Greater Shelf Beach. Sergeant Amos Joseph of Antillia P & S called Horngold’s survival “almost a miracle.” Horngold credited his stamina to his training as a competitive swimmer.
